Despite his youth, Yu. Tsapko already heads the trauma and surgical department of the 19th central district clinic. For those who are unfamiliar with this medical institution, let’s explain: not only surgeons work here, but also a 24-hour emergency station where adult residents of the Pervomaisky district turn to. However, the others are not denied first aid either. Another thing is that such patients have to be treated already at the place of registration.
Yulia Alexandrovna, surgeon and traumatologist - is this one specialty or are they different?
It all depends on who graduates from the internship and in what specialty. Orthopedic traumatologists are involved in complex injuries.
Winter is on the street - sidewalks often become slippery. Can icy injuries be prevented?
The most important thing in the winter season is to choose good shoes! Flat, non-slip soles. Older people should not force - you need to move with a cane or accompanied by loved ones. You need to be careful and those who have problems with blood pressure, dizziness, shaky gait - these factors do not contribute to maintaining equilibrium.
“I know a lady who broke her arm more than once.” She says with humor: my growth is to blame for everything - you have to fall from a height! How to protect yourself?
“The safety rules here are common to all, except that they must be followed more carefully.” By the way, another problem that tall people sometimes turn to us with is bruises and bumps received from hitting a door jamb.
I’ll ask trivial questions: why did you decide to become a surgeon and came to work in a clinic?
I dreamed of becoming a doctor from the age of three, despite the fact that she herself was not from a medical family. In the ninth grade, she consciously decided to enter a medical university. At one time I thought about otolaryngology, but I realized: this is not mine ... As for the clinic, there is an unwritten rule: you need to work on an outpatient basis and only then apply for a position in a hospital. At the 36th outpatient clinic in Shabany, I had a combined appointment. She assisted both children and adults, worked as a surgeon and as a traumatologist. And in the two years that she worked there, she gained a lot of experience. The clinic is interesting to me and now, it suits the schedule. First of all, I’m still my wife and mother. And for me it is very important that I do not disappear at work for days, but I can spend time with my family.
I believe that it is the polyclinic’s doctors who are most often the first to diagnose a disease such as varicose veins. What symptoms are worth paying attention to?
Almost everyone who comes to us with this problem already has a disease in their family - their mother, their grandmother ... The condition of the veins also depends on work. If it is sedentary or, conversely, a person is constantly on his feet, then there is stagnation of blood in the lower extremities. Nutrition also affects: how many of us today eat fully? Therefore, those trace elements that provide vascular elasticity often do not enter the body. So there is a weakness of the walls of the vessels, the blood stagnates and the vein expands. It is worth remembering: this disease affects all veins in the body. Legs are just what we see.
Pay attention to the feeling of heaviness in the legs, swelling in the ankle joint. The skin becomes shiny as tight. Leg may hurt along the vein. At this stage, you need to do an ultrasound of the veins of the lower extremities to identify the problem.
Prevention of varicose veins
- Nutrition should be rich in vitamins and minerals. For example, vitamin C is responsible for the elasticity and strength of blood vessels.
- For the vessels to work well, the muscles of the lower extremities need to work. And these are regular walks. Physical therapy classes, a contrast shower, lymphatic drainage massage will also be useful.
- It is useful to lie down with your legs up. At the same time, venous outflow of blood improves, which reduces the risk of varicose veins and the appearance of blood clots in the lower extremities.
- Applying a cream with allantoin, caffeine, menthol, vitamins C, PP is to some extent a massage that improves blood circulation in the problem area.
- The doctor prescribes medicines according to indications, as well as compression knitwear. You just should not get carried away with them. To keep the veins in good shape, without a prescription, you can use herbal remedies based on horse chestnut.
For reference
It is generally accepted that assistance with complex injuries is provided only in the hospital. But the doctors in the clinic have sufficient qualifications to correct the dislocation, to reposition the fragments, without sending patients to the hospital. In addition, in the clinic you can very quickly consult a person with doctors of other specialties - they are all nearby, literally in neighboring rooms. This is very convenient when providing emergency assistance.
